Free forever vs free trial
Many "free After Effects plugins" are trials. For motion design utilities you want no credit card and no cloud meter. AI transcription and generative video usually cannot be free forever because they have real API cost - but local animation tools can.
Ludo: free Keyweaver motion toolkit
Ludo is free and does not use Keyweaver Credits. Typical uses:
- Animation ease curves and strength controls
- Text split (characters/words), stagger, typewriter-style animate-on
- Keyframe stagger / align / reverse / distribute
- Cloner-style layout helpers
- Colour palette tools
- Frame export and GIF export from the work area
Install from the After Effects tab in Keyweaver Manager.
Other free helpers editors still use
- Native AE align, graph editor, and text animators
- Community expressions (prefer tools that do not inject vendor-branded expression spam)
- Free preset packs - quality varies; always check license
When paid AI still makes sense
Use free motion tools for craft. Add paid AI when the bottleneck is content: captions (Cuemark), VO (Trillian), B-roll (Superconductor), or music (Tambourine). Guest trials let you test before buying credits.
